A Force Close is required to close Safari. As of now Safari is only using 100mb instead of the crazy 1G/min business. Open Safari and a new Safari folder will be created - and no more crazy memory leak/usage.

And I typically stream cable TV news in one of the tabs in either Safari or Chrome. Just opening Safari causes memory usage to climb about 1GB every 60 seconds. So much so that I get warnings at the top of Safari about web pages using too much memory. Yes, Safari tends to be more efficient on the Mac but even Safari gets sluggish when I have more than a few tabs open and simultaneously have tabs open in Chrome.
